Ford Field Named in $100 Million Lawsuit After DK Metcalf Sideline Altercation

A Detroit Lions fan has filed a massive lawsuit after a viral confrontation with Pittsburgh Steelers star DK Metcalf at Ford Field, and now the stadium itself is being pulled into court.

Ryan Kennedy, a Michigan resident, filed suit in Wayne County on Tuesday, seeking $100 million in damages following a Dec. 21 sideline incident in which Metcalf was seen swinging at him during the Lions vs. Steelers game. The NFL later suspended Metcalf for two games.

Kennedy is suing Metcalf, the Pittsburgh Steelers, former NFL receiver Chad Johnson, Shannon Sharpe’s media company Shay Shay Media, and Ford Field Management. The lawsuit includes claims of assault, defamation, and negligence.

The case hinges on statements made on the “Nightcap” podcast, where Johnson claimed Metcalf told him Kennedy used racial slurs, including the N-word and a vulgar insult about Metcalf’s mother. Kennedy has publicly and legally denied making any racial or hateful remarks, calling the accusations false and life-altering.

The lawsuit also accuses Ford Field of failing to maintain proper security barriers and safety protocols that allowed a player to physically reach into the stands and make contact with a fan.

Kennedy is demanding $100 million in damages and a full public retraction from Johnson and Sharpe.

Attorney Jon Marko from Marko Law represents Kennedy.
