FORMER KIMBALL TOWNSHIP MAN DEAD IN FEDERAL PRISON ONE YEAR AFTER SENTENCING

A former Kimball Township man convicted of some of the most disturbing child exploitation crimes in recent memory is dead in federal custody…almost exactly one year to the day after he was sentenced.

Austin Ray Sabb-Visga, 31, was found unresponsive around 7:00 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2025, at USP Coleman II, a high-security federal penitentiary in Sumterville, Florida. Prison staff began life-saving measures before transporting him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead the next day, Saturday, September 20.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed his death and said there was no danger to staff, other inmates, or the public. The FBI has been notified, and an investigation into the circumstances of his death is ongoing. The Bureau has not yet released a cause or manner of death.

What makes this case even more notable is the timing. Sabb-Visga had been sentenced in Detroit federal court on September 18, 2024, to 600 months, or 50 years, in prison. He was transferred to Coleman on March 3, 2025, where he remained until his death almost exactly one year after sentencing.

Sabb-Visga and his husband, Todd Allen Sabb-Visga, 48, operated an equestrian center in Kimball Township. Federal prosecutors said the pair used their access to children in their care to create more than 900 images and videos of abuse, which they shared online. Investigators identified at least four victims.

The case began with a June 2023 cyber tip that was passed to the Michigan State Police and the Michigan Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, with assistance from the U.S. Secret Service. Both men pleaded guilty in May 2024 and were sentenced that September.

Court records show the scope of the case shocked even seasoned investigators. At sentencing, federal prosecutors emphasized the deliberate nature of the crimes and the long-term damage to the victims. Each man received identical 50-year prison terms.

Sabb-Visga’s sudden death now raises questions that federal authorities have yet to answer. Was it natural causes, suicide, or foul play inside the prison? Until the FBI and Bureau of Prisons complete their investigation, those details remain unknown.
