Fraser, MI — Crews in Fraser are working Saturday to repair two separate water main breaks as multiple communities across Metro Detroit deal with water system problems.

According to the Fraser Department of Public Works, the breaks occurred on Sylvan Lane and Edgegrove Road. A DPW crew is currently repairing the break on Sylvan Lane before moving to Edgegrove Road once that repair is completed.
Officials say some residents in the immediate repair area will temporarily have their water shut off while crews complete the work. Those affected residents have already been personally notified by DPW staff.
In surrounding areas, the disruption in the water main may cause temporary discoloration in tap water, including brown or “rusty” looking water. City officials say this is caused by minerals or sediment being disturbed inside the water lines and the water remains safe to use.
Residents who notice discoloration are advised to run cold water in a bathtub or utility sink for about 10–15 minutes until the water clears.
The Fraser breaks come as other Metro Detroit communities are also dealing with water system issues. Earlier Saturday, large portions of Novi lost water service after a major transmission line break near 14 Mile and Drake, and another break was also reported in West Bloomfield Township.
Crews continue working to restore normal service in the affected Fraser neighborhoods.
