Georgia Man Arrested After Juvenile In Michigan Comes Forward On Alleged Sexual Assault

A man in Georgia has been arrested on allegations of child molestation that happened in the state after the victim came forward in Michigan to detail the abuse.

Recently, juvenile female disclosed to the Michigan State Police that

an adult male had inappropriate sexual contact with her between the years of 2016 and 2017 in Stephens County, Georgia.

The Michigan State Police reached out to the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division to make them aware of the allegations because that is where the crime is alleged to have occurred and is where the male lives.

SCSO investigators conducted an interview with the male, identified as Doyle McLaughlin, 67 of Toccoa. Following the interview, investigators determined there was enough probable cause to issue warrants on McLaughlin for Child Molestation and Enticing a Child for Indecent Purposes.

On Tuesday, August 5, 2025 the SCSO Crime Suppression Unit attempted to make contact with McLaughlin at his place of employment. Once they arrived they learned that he had called in sick. The CSU then visited a residence where McLaughlin is known to frequent and were given consent to search the residence. McLaughlin exited the residence as deputies approached the basement door. He was taken into custody without incident.

McLaughlin was then transported to the Stephens County Jail, where he remains pending a $50,000 bond.
