Grosse Pointe Farms Police Investigating String Of Car Thefts Near Mack Avenue

Grosse Pointe Farms, MI → Police in Grosse Pointe Farms are investigating a recent surge in thefts from vehicles, with more than a dozen incidents reported over the past several days.

The Grosse Pointe Farms Department of Public Safety issued an advisory Wednesday morning stating that more than 12 larcenies from autos have occurred since Saturday, February 14, 2026. Authorities say the majority of the thefts involved unlocked vehicles.

Recent incidents have been concentrated in the 400 blocks near Mack Avenue, including the streets of Belanger, Hillcrest, Manor, and Ridgemont. Residents in those areas are being urged to take extra precautions.

According to investigators, the thefts appear to follow a pattern. Police believe a single vehicle has been dropping off suspects, who then move quickly through neighborhoods checking door handles before leaving the area. Detectives are actively working leads in the case.

Officials are reminding residents to lock their vehicle doors at night and remove valuables from plain sight. Anyone who notices suspicious activity is encouraged to call 911 immediately or contact the department’s non-emergency line at (313) 885-2100.

The investigation remains ongoing.
