Jury convicts Dearborn man of first-degree criminal sexual conduct

Mount Clemens, MI — A Macomb County jury has convicted 43-year-old Dearborn resident Elie Otayek on multiple felony counts after years of repeated sexual assaults against a child in Roseville.

The verdict came Friday, November 21, 2025, after a three-day trial prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Kelsey Heath. Jurors deliberated for roughly eight hours before returning guilty findings on the following:

• Two counts of First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct — involving a victim under 13, with the offender being over 17. Each count carries a mandatory minimum of 25 years, with the potential for life in prison.
• One count of Second-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct — a 15-year felony involving a child under 13.

Under Michigan law, Otayek faces a mandatory minimum 25-year sentence and, if he ever walks out of prison, he’ll be tethered to lifetime electronic monitoring.

Following the verdict, Otayek was ordered held at the Macomb County Jail. Sentencing is set for Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 9:00 a.m., before Circuit Court Judge James M. Maceroni.

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said he’s grateful for the jury’s work, noting that cases involving children are among the most difficult but also the most crucial for public safety.

“We are deeply grateful to the jury for their careful deliberation and dedication,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “Cases involving the most vulnerable members of our community are always challenging, but they are also among the most critical. The jury’s service ensures that justice is upheld.”
