Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald has blown past every other candidate in the race for Michigan Attorney General — raising over $840,000, plus another $100,000 transferred from her county campaign fund. That puts her at nearly a million dollars raised, and she’s sitting on more than $626,000 cash on hand.
To put that in perspective:
⌁ All other Democratic and Republican candidates combined raised under $700,000, even counting personal loans.
⌁ McDonald has raised more than all of them put together.
If fundraising is any indicator of political momentum, McDonald is the clear frontrunner heading into 2026. With Attorney General Dana Nessel term-limited, the Democratic field has narrowed sharply — and McDonald’s war chest already overshadows her closest challenger, Washtenaw County Prosecutor Eli Savit, who trails by nearly half a million dollars.
