Sterling Heights, MI – One person was injured and two suspects — including a juvenile — are now in custody following a shooting that police say stemmed from a fight in a Sterling Heights parking lot.
The incident happened around 8:25 p.m. on March 15 in the plaza near 18 Mile Road and Dequindre Road. According to Sterling Heights police, what began as a confrontation between juveniles escalated, ultimately ending in gunfire.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.
Investigators say both suspects — one juvenile and one adult — were quickly identified and taken into custody through coordinated efforts between patrol officers and the department’s detective bureau.
Early information suggests none of the individuals involved are residents of Sterling Heights, and police believe the shooting was an isolated incident rather than a random act.
