The latest mugshot of Royal Oak babysitter Samantha Rae Booth has been released.
Oakland County Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald has charged 35-year-old Samantha Rae Booth with First Degree Murder, Second Degree Child Abuse, Felonious Assault, and three counts of Resisting and Obstructing Police in connection with the stabbing death of 83-year-old David Ong in Royal Oak.
Investigators say Booth was babysitting a two-year-old when she allegedly attacked Ong and later ran naked through the neighborhood covered in blood. Officers also recovered suspected psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana from her purse.
Prosecutor McDonald said, “We should all be grateful for the brave actions by the uncle who rescued the two-year-old from this horrific and dangerous situation. David Ong’s murder is a shocking tragedy, and the person responsible will be held accountable.”
Booth refused to appear on video for her arraignment and stripped naked on the jail floor to avoid the hearing. Bond was denied.
Charges are accusations and individuals are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
