LIVONIA WOMAN FACES ASSAULT WITH INTENT TO MURDER CHARGE AFTER SHOOTING AT MAN AFTER BEING ASKED TO LEAVE

Mount Clemens, MI – A Livonia woman accused of opening fire inside an Eastpointe home is now facing even more serious charges after a judge bound her case over to Macomb County Circuit Court.

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that 31-year-old Kimberly Lozano was bound over on multiple felonies, including a newly added count of First-Degree Home Invasion. Her preliminary exam was held Sept. 3 and Sept. 10 before Judge Kathleen G. Galen at 38th District Court in Eastpointe. Prosecutors argued that Lozano forced her way back inside the home after being told to leave and should face additional charges. Judge Galen agreed and added the new counts on Sept. 17.

Lozano is accused of re-entering the home of her friend’s father, Willie Richardson, on Aug. 17 after he escorted her outside and told her to leave. Prosecutors say she returned armed with a handgun and fired a shot at Richardson. He was not struck. When police arrived, Lozano allegedly resisted officers and had to be physically subdued.

She now faces:

👉Assault with Intent to Murder, a life felony

👉First-Degree Home Invasion, up to 20 years

👉Three counts of Felony Firearm, two-year mandatory sentences each (served consecutive)

👉Discharge of a Firearm in a Building, up to 10 years

👉Assaulting/Resisting/Obstructing Police, up to 2 years

Her bond remains set at $350,000 cash/surety. She is in custody at the Macomb County Jail and will be arraigned before Judge Joseph Toia in circuit court on Oct. 9 at 8:30 a.m.

“In Macomb County, we protect families, we defend neighborhoods, and we back the men and women in uniform. If you choose violence, you are not just breaking the law, you are signing away your freedom,” said Prosecutor Lucido.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
