MAN ARRAIGNED ON CHARGE OF FIRST-DEGREE CHILD ABUSE

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office has charged 39-year-old Michael Antonelli with First-Degree Child Abuse after Antonelli and his wife brought their injured child to Children’s Hospital in Detroit.

According to the Prosecutor, it is alleged that between May 14 and June 2, 2025, Antonelli abused his child. After a medical evaluation at the hospital, doctors determined that the child had suffered multiple fractures, all consistent with non-accidental trauma.

Following a comprehensive evaluation of the evidence, Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido concluded that the appropriate charge is First-Degree Child Abuse.

On Thursday, August 7, 2025, Antonelli was arraigned on the charge, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison or any term of years.

Antonelli was issued a $250,000 cash/surety bond, with no 10% provision. If released, he must wear a GPS tether and have no contact with anyone under the age of 18—specifically, his own children.

“This is an extremely sad and difficult case. Our focus remains where it must be—on protecting children and pursuing justice. It is essential that we allow the judicial system to run its course, guided by evidence and due process,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

Due to the sensitive nature of the case, the Prosecutor’s Office stated it will not release further details at this time.
