Following an investigation by the Detroit Police Department, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Amir Khalid in connection with a fatal crash that claimed the lives of two children and left another child seriously injured.
On Saturday, August 23, 2025, investigators allege Khalid was traveling north on Gratiot at more than 80 mph when he struck a vehicle turning east onto August Street.
Inside that car was a woman with three children: an 8-year-old girl and two 16-year-old girls. Two of the children died in the crash. The other teen remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
Khalid now faces:
– 2 counts of Reckless Driving Causing Death
– 1 count of Reckless Driving Causing Serious Impairment
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
