MAN WANTED FOR MICHIGAN MURDER FOUND ON THE RUN IN CALIFORNIA

The man accused in the shooting death of 18-year-old Mia Sims of Jackson has been arrested. Police confirmed that 21-year-old Antonio Green was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in Fresno, California.

Sims was found on July 27 around 12:45 p.m. on the 1500 block of Carl Breeding Way with a gunshot wound to the neck. She was rushed to Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson where she later died.

Green is facing multiple charges, including second-degree murder, discharging a firearm at a building causing death, and felony firearm. Jackson Police Chief Christopher Simpson praised the Michigan State Police Fugitive Team and local detectives for their efforts in tracking Green down, saying their tireless work led to the arrest.

Authorities are now working to extradite Green back to Michigan to face charges. Officials with the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office and JPD said there is currently no specific timeframe for when he will be returned.

Sims had recently graduated from Jackson High School and was preparing to attend Clark University in Georgia. Her death has left family, friends, and the Jackson community devastated.
