According to jail records, DeAngelo Steele was booked into the Oakland County Jail on March 10, 2026 on a charge of Breaking and Entering – Illegal Entry. His bond in the new case has been set at $2,500 cash or surety.

DeAngelo Steele

The arrest comes just weeks after Steele was sentenced in connection with a disturbing 2025 assault involving a child at Inglenook Park in Southfield.

Original Case

Steele was arrested on September 17, 2025 after Southfield police said he approached a 12-year-old girl at the park and asked to borrow her cellphone to call his mother. Investigators say Steele then ran off with the phone.

When the victim confronted him, police reported Steele pushed the girl, ripped her shirt, demanded a sex act in exchange for returning the phone, and touched her inappropriately before officers located and arrested him nearby.

Steele originally faced three felony charges:

  • Unarmed Robbery
  • Criminal Sexual Conduct – 2nd Degree
  • Accosting a Minor for Immoral Purposes

Guilty Plea

On December 9, 2025, Steele pleaded guilty in Oakland County Circuit Court to:

  • Unarmed Robbery
  • Accosting a Child for Immoral Purposes

A third charge of Criminal Sexual Conduct – 2nd Degree was dismissed during the court process.

Sentencing

On January 13, 2026, Circuit Court Judge Cheryl Matthews sentenced Steele to:

  • 85 days in the Oakland County Jail (with credit for 85 days already served)
  • 11 months of probation

The judge also placed Steele on a delayed sentence until November 17, 2026. If Steele successfully completed the delay period, the court indicated he could potentially receive Holmes Youthful Trainee Act (HYTA) status, which could allow the case to eventually be dismissed from public record.

Steele’s probation conditions included:

  • Electronic tether monitoring
  • A nightly curfew between the hours of 10:30pm and 10:30am
  • Report any arrest or police contact within 24 hours (welp, pretty sure they’ll know soon)
  • Drug and alcohol testing
  • Mental health and substance abuse treatment
  • No contact with the victim
  • No contact with anyone under 17 years old without permission

New Arrest

Despite those conditions, Steele is now back in custody less than two months after sentencing.

Jail records show Steele was booked March 10 on a charge of Breaking and Entering – Illegal Entry, a new offense that could place his delayed sentence and potential HYTA status in jeopardy. Records show the alleged crime happened March 9 in Southfield.

The new case is expected to proceed through Oakland County courts in the coming weeks.
