A family practice doctor from Michigan has been arrested after authorities say he tried to arrange sexual activity with a child in an undercover sting launched by detectives in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Investigators say in June a Port St. Lucie detective posed online as a mother with a 5-year-old child. Authorities allege Dr. William J. Murdoch began engaging in disturbing conversations with the undercover detective and attempted to arrange a meeting.
Detectives obtained access to Murdoch’s iCloud and messages where they say they found alarming material including dark web searches on conception full term abortions and even methods of causing birth defects.
On September 2nd U.S. Marshals located Murdoch in Michigan and took him into custody. He is now awaiting extradition to Florida to face charges of solicitation of sexual conduct involving a minor.
It is believed that Murdoch practices out of the Monroe area.
Authorities call the conversations and digital evidence “stomach churning.”
