Michigan Man Gets Nine Years as Investigators Tie Him to Major Fentanyl Pipeline in West Virginia

A Michigan man with deep ties to the Detroit metro area has been sentenced to more than nine years in federal prison after authorities uncovered a large-scale fentanyl and meth operation in West Virginia. While the December 1 sentencing closes one chapter, prosecutors made clear that the investigation into the broader drug network remains active and ongoing.

According to federal court documents, Adrian Demetrius Ludaway, 35, of Wayne, Michigan, admitted to distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine after selling 28.5 grams of meth and nearly 7 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant in Huntington on February 27, 2025, a deal he arranged in advance.

Law enforcement moved in on May 30, 2025, arresting Ludaway and executing a search warrant at his 30th Street residence in Huntington. Inside, investigators seized a staggering four pounds of fentanyl, 100 grams of crack cocaine, a loaded .38-caliber revolver, and roughly $20,000 in cash.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie Taylor, following a joint investigation by the ATF and the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force. U.S. District Judge Robert C. Chambers handed down the nine-year, two-month sentence, followed by three years of supervised release.
