A Michigan man who built his adult-film career on lies, coercion, and the sexual exploitation of young women has been sentenced to federal prison for his role in the notorious GirlsDoPorn sex-trafficking conspiracy.
Douglas Wiederhold, 42, now living in Michigan, was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in San Diego to four years in federal prison for his role in a massive trafficking operation that deceived and exploited dozens of young women across the country. Prosecutors said Wiederhold personally appeared in at least 71 pornographic videos that were produced through fraud, manipulation, and outright lies.
Federal prosecutors described Wiederhold not as a passive actor, but as a trusted insider who actively helped recruit, deceive, and sexually exploit victims on camera.
The operation was run by Michael Pratt, the founder of the GirlsDoPorn website, which built a multimillion-dollar empire by luring young women with promises that their sex videos would never be published online.
They were lying.
How the scheme worked
Women from all over the United States were recruited and flown to San Diego to film what they were told would be private videos for a “foreign collector” or for limited overseas distribution. In reality, those videos were uploaded to girlsdoporn.com, where they were sold to subscribers worldwide and promoted through mainstream porn platforms like Pornhub.
Wiederhold wasn’t just another performer. Prosecutors said he:
- Traveled with Pratt
- Picked up victims at airports
- Helped transport them to filming locations
- Participated in filming after lies were told
- Personally reassured victims their videos would not go online
Even after Wiederhold knew the videos were being posted publicly, he continued lying to women, telling them their footage would never be seen by the public.
Women told federal agents they trusted him because he acted like a friend and made them feel safe before they were filmed.
That trust was a weapon.
Victims told the court they were destroyed
At sentencing, victims delivered statements describing how Wiederhold’s deception permanently damaged their lives.
One woman told the court he “branded” her by exposing her online without consent. Another said the person she was before the abuse “no longer exists.”
A third victim confronted him directly, saying everything about him was fake and that once he got what he wanted, he left her “scared, humiliated, and overwhelmed.”
U.S. District Judge Janis Sammartino told Wiederhold that even though he left the conspiracy more than a decade ago, the harm he caused is permanent.
“Some of the damage will be lifelong,” the judge said.
Michigan connection
Wiederhold now lives in Michigan, staying in an RV on family property with his girlfriend. Despite telling the court he is “extremely remorseful,” the federal judge ordered him to report to the Bureau of Prisons in Michigan in March to begin serving his sentence.
A restitution hearing is scheduled for March 6, where the victims will seek financial compensation for the damage done to them.
The criminal enterprise
The GirlsDoPorn ring was one of the largest sex-trafficking cases ever brought against the porn industry.
Pratt and his crew turned deception into profit, trapping young women into having sex on camera under false pretenses and then selling their humiliation to millions.
