Michigan State Police Arrest Ypsilanti Man in Stolen Vehicle Case

Michigan State Police arrested a 49-year-old Ypsilanti man Thursday night after locating a stolen vehicle reported out of Washtenaw County.

According to authorities, at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Dec. 11, the Detroit Regional Communication Center (DRCC) was alerted to the theft of a yellow Chevrolet Trax that had been taken from a gas station without the keys.

Using vehicle tracking technology, troopers were able to locate the SUV in Detroit. The vehicle was first identified in the area of Trenton Street between I-94 and Michigan Avenue, before being found on Ogden Street near Michigan Avenue.

A traffic stop was conducted without incident, and the driver was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.

The suspect was transported to the Detroit Detachment for processing and is expected to be turned over to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office.

The case remains pending prosecutor review.
