Ruby Whitehorn, the 2022 Michigan Miss Basketball and current guard for the Tennessee Lady Volunteers, was arrested Friday night in Knox County, Tennessee on felony aggravated burglary and domestic assault charges.
WHAT HAPPENED
Deputies were called to a North Knox County residence for a reported domestic dispute.
According to court documents, Whitehorn told deputies she saw the victim in a parking lot and confronted her after hearing glass break. During the confrontation, the victim’s dog got loose, and the woman ran to her home with a cellphone she believed was hers — but Whitehorn says it belonged to her.
The victim claims Whitehorn then kicked in her front door, chased her upstairs, and kicked in a locked bedroom door, smashing a mirror before taking her phone and leaving.
Whitehorn maintains she was attacked first in the parking lot and was acting in self-defense to retrieve her property.
Authorities determined Whitehorn to be the aggressor and took her into custody.

At Clemson, she earned ACC All-Freshman Team honors before transferring to Tennessee in May 2024, where she is considered a potential WNBA draft pick.
