A MSP K-9 tracked down a fleeing suspect early Thursday morning following an attempted larceny from an auto in the City of Plymouth.
At approximately 2:00a.m. on Feb. 5, Plymouth Police requested canine assistance near Provincetown Lane and Lexington after a homeowner confronted a suspect rummaging through his vehicle. The homeowner briefly chased the suspect before losing sight of him as he fled the area.

After arriving on scene, the K-9 conducted a short track and located the suspect just north of the original incident area. Verbal commands were issued and the suspect surrendered without incident. Troopers used a department-issued fingerprint scanner to identify the suspect as a 19-year-old male from Ypsilanti, who was also found to have multiple outstanding warrants for similar criminal activity, including vehicle thefts.
The suspect was taken into custody and turned over to Plymouth Police for further investigation.
