Nearly $400K in cash and five vehicles seized as investigators recover ¾ ton of marijuana

Shelby Township, MI — A months-long investigation into a suspected large-scale drug trafficking operation led to coordinated raids across multiple Shelby Township locations on November 6. The operation was led by the Sheriff’s Enforcement Team (SET) with support from DEA FANTOM Group 10, the Warren Police Department Special Operations Unit, the Shelby Township Police Department Special Investigations Unit, COMET, and the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team.

Search warrants were executed at four locations:
• A residence in the 7600 block of Crimson Court
• A residence in the 14000 block of Kings Park Court
• A residence in the 48000 block of Lake Valley
• A business at 51000 Schoenherr Road

SET investigators, made up of detectives from both the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office and the Warren Police Department, discovered that the suspects were distributing large quantities of unregulated, untested marijuana entirely outside the licensed state market. According to authorities, their customer base consisted largely of out-of-state buyers.

Major Seizures

During the searches, investigators recovered:
1,500 pounds of marijuana (roughly three-quarters of a ton)
• A small amount of crack cocaine
• Hundreds of THC vape pens, edibles, and gummies
16 grams of mushrooms and ketamine
Three handguns and two AR-style rifles
• Approximately $380,000 in cash
Five vehicles: two Lincoln Navigators, a Cadillac Escalade, a Kia SUV, a Jeep Cherokee, and a Dodge Ram van

Sheriff Anthony Wickersham described the group as a “sophisticated, multi-state trafficking network with bulk quantities being sold, sometimes between 6 and 150 pounds at a time, almost exclusively to out-of-state buyers.” He emphasized that illegal narcotics operations often fuel additional violent crimes including home invasions and robberies, and vowed continued enforcement efforts.
