Oakland County Man Arrested For Putting Liquid On Women At Kroger – Has History Of Grocery Store Incidents

Police say 20-year-old Deon Otis Grant of Southfield was arrested after two separate incidents at a Kroger in Farmington Hills where he allegedly put an unknown liquid on the pants of unsuspecting female shoppers.

The first case happened on September 5, when a woman reported a man had approached her inside the store and sprayed an unknown liquid onto the back of her clothing. Investigators say the same man returned on September 8, and before police could arrive, he struck again, this time targeting a second victim. Officers arrested Grant as he attempted to flee.

Grant was charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count for each victim. He pleaded not guilty and was released on a $10,000 personal bond with conditions that bar him from contacting the victims or returning to that Kroger. His next court date is set for September 19. Authorities are testing the clothing to determine what the liquid was.

This is not the first time Grant has been accused of misconduct inside a grocery store. Metro Detroit Crime Report has obtained records showing he was arrested in March 2024 in Eustis, Florida, after a woman reported he battered her outside a Winn Dixie grocery store. At that time, local police also distributed bulletins linking him to suspicious activity in nearby stores.

The new allegations in Michigan, combined with his documented history in Florida, point to a troubling pattern of targeting women in public shopping environments. Police are urging any additional victims or witnesses to come forward.
