Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a serious injury crash that happened late Friday morning in Commerce Township. Authorities say a 2022 Tesla traveling eastbound on West Pontiac Trail crossed the center yellow line and collided head-on with a westbound 2010 Honda Odyssey near Huntley Drive. The Tesla was driven by a 24-year-old Dearborn resident, while the Honda was driven by a 73-year-old resident of Walled Lake.
Both drivers were treated at the scene and taken to Ascension Providence Hospital in Novi. The driver of the Honda Odyssey is listed in critical condition, while the Tesla driver is reported to be in stable condition. Investigators say alcohol, drugs, and speed are not believed to be factors, and both drivers were wearing seatbelts. The crash remains under investigation, with the Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction and Drone Units assisting at the scene.
