Oakland County Student Suspended After Posting Photo of Hunting Rifles, Despite Police Finding No Threat

A high school student in Oakland County has been suspended after posting a photo online that showed a lineup of rifles — a photo that police say contained no threats, no concerning language, and no danger to the school.

Wylie E. Groves High School in Beverly Hills notified parents that the image had been reported through Michigan’s OK2Say system, prompting police to launch an investigation. Officers went to the student’s home and confirmed there was no threat toward any students or staff at Groves. Just a set of rifles laid out on the floor. In this journalist’s opinion, if I had to guess, it looks like a pretty normal tie-in to Michigan’s ongoing hunting season.

Despite law enforcement finding nothing criminal or dangerous, the district still suspended the student “pending investigation” and announced extra police presence at the building Friday.

So now a kid with no ill intent, no wrongdoing, and a clean police check gets kicked out of school anyway? At least he gets a few bonus days in the woods to enjoy hunting with his family while the adults sort themselves out.
