Oakland County Woman Claims $131K Lottery Jackpot Just in Time

An Oakland County resident claimed a $131,121 Fantasy 5 jackpot from the Michigan Lottery with less than three weeks left before the prize would have expired. The winner, an 82-year-old woman who requested anonymity, matched all five numbers in the Dec. 3, 2024 drawing: 07, 10, 21, 22, 26.

The Winning Ticket

The ticket was purchased at Pike Food Center, located at 465 East Pike Street in Pontiac.

The player said she only plays Fantasy 5 occasionally because a friend once told her, “You can’t win if you don’t play.”

How She Discovered the Win

After the drawing, she scanned the ticket at the store and received a message instructing her to see a clerk. She later checked the winning numbers at home and realized she had hit the jackpot.

“It was a pleasant surprise,” she said.

Why She Waited to Claim It

The winner said that after discovering the win, she planned to hold onto the ticket “for a little while,” but life became hectic and she kept it longer than expected.
“It’s a relief to finally be cashing it in,” she added.

What She Plans to Do With the Money

She told Lottery officials she plans to share her winnings with her family, making the long-delayed prize finally pay off in a meaningful way.
