Port Huron, MI — The Port Huron Police Department, working alongside agents from the Michigan Department of Corrections, conducted a large-scale parole compliance operation across St. Clair County that resulted in multiple violations, seizures, and jail lodgings.
According to police, the department’s Major Crimes Unit carried out 25 parole compliance checks on February 4 at the residences of MDOC parolees throughout the county. Authorities said 15 individuals were found to be in compliance, while 10 parolees were discovered in violation of their release conditions.
Investigators reported that two individuals had outstanding arrest warrants out of Sanilac County and were turned over to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office. Five parolees had their cell phones seized after officers suspected the devices contained sexually abusive material. Those phones will now be analyzed by the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit, and officials say the findings could result in new criminal charges or additional parole violations.
Police also encountered several drug- and weapon-related violations. One parolee was found in possession of a controlled substance and was lodged at the St. Clair County Jail on a parole violation hold. Another individual was discovered with weapons and alcohol, both prohibited under parole conditions, and was also jailed. A separate subject was found to possess controlled substances but was not at their registered residence; parole violation charges are being pursued in that case.
