Mount Clemens, MI — Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Casada Sorrell, known publicly as rapper Sada Baby, has been bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court on a felony drug possession charge after waiving his preliminary examination.
According to prosecutors, the case stems from a January 2025 traffic stop conducted by Sterling Heights Police. Sorrell, 33, was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant. During the arrest, officers allegedly observed a bag of pills inside the driver-side door pocket of the vehicle.
Authorities allege the pills were identified as Acetaminophen and Oxycodone Hydrochloride, a Schedule 2 controlled substance. Prosecutors say Sorrell did not have a valid prescription for the Oxycodone.
A Probable Cause Conference was held Thursday, December 11, 2025, before Judge Eric D. Shepherd in the 41A District Court in Sterling Heights. At that hearing, Sorrell waived his right to a Preliminary Exam, resulting in the case being bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court. An arraignment date has not yet been scheduled.
Sorrell is charged with Controlled Substances – Possession Less Than 25 Grams, a felony punishable by up to four years in prison. Court records also indicate a Habitual Offender, Third Offense notice has been filed, which may increase potential sentencing exposure if a conviction is secured.
In a statement, Prosecutor Lucido emphasized the county’s stance on drug-related offenses, saying illicit narcotics present a serious danger to the community and contribute to addiction affecting families throughout Macomb County. He added that his office will continue to pursue such cases aggressively.
As with all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
