A MSP Trooper clocked a driver at 107 mph in a 70 zone on southbound I-75 near W. 11 Mile Road in Royal Oak on Saturday, November 8.
When the trooper pulled the vehicle over, the 40-year-old Roseville man admitted he had a loaded Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm in his driver-side door. During a search, troopers also found a Derringer pistol strapped to his ankle.
The driver was arrested, and both firearms were seized. The case is pending review by the prosecutor’s office.
“We continue to see drivers put themselves and others at risk by overdriving their capabilities,” said F/Lt. Mike Shaw. “In this case, not only did the driver make poor driving decisions, the investigation to those decisions also took two firearms out of our neighborhood.”
