Katrina Deann-Renee Patterson, 26, of Canton was sentenced March 10 in the 44th District Court after pleading guilty to several charges tied to the Nov. 9, 2025 incident that caused extensive damage to the store and a Royal Oak police vehicle.
The court ordered Patterson to serve 365 days in the Oakland County Jail, with credit for four days already served.
In addition to the jail sentence, the judge ordered Patterson to pay $258,563.74 in restitution to cover the damage caused during the crash.
Court records show the restitution will be paid to two entities:
- $233,164.63 to Ulta Beauty
- $25,399.11 to the City of Royal Oak
As part of the sentence, Patterson must sign an income withholding order once employment is verified, allowing the court to garnish her wages to ensure the restitution is repaid.
Beyond the jail term and restitution, Patterson was also placed on three years of probation and ordered to complete 30 days of community service.
Additional conditions of her probation include:
- Substance abuse treatment and testing as directed by probation officers
- No use or possession of alcohol or controlled substances without a prescription
- No possession of firearms or other weapons
- No contact with known felons or co-defendant Deniro Merritt
- A ban from entering any Ulta Beauty stores
Her vehicle was also ordered immobilized for one year.
The court further ordered Patterson to maintain or seek employment while under probation supervision.
The jail sentence is currently being held in abeyance, with Patterson scheduled to return to court in approximately 60 days for a review hearing related to provisions involving her children before serving the sentence.
The charges stem from a bizarre early-morning incident on Nov. 9, 2025, when Royal Oak police spotted a white SUV driving along train tracks near W. Fourth Street and S. Center Street around 12:40 a.m.
Police said Patterson refused to cooperate when officers approached, then fled the scene, leading officers on a short pursuit through the area.
According to investigators, Patterson eventually lost control of the SUV and crashed into the Ulta Beauty store on Woodward Avenue near 12 Mile Road.
Despite the vehicle becoming lodged inside the building, police said she put the SUV in reverse, rammed a patrol car, and then drove further into the store, causing extensive damage before the vehicle became stuck in debris.
Officers took Patterson into custody at the scene.
No officers were injured during the incident.
At the time of the crash, police reported Patterson had an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle and believed she was intoxicated.
Her criminal history includes a 2023 conviction for Operating While Intoxicated in Port Huron, court records show.
