According to court records, Wayne Bowers pleaded guilty on January 27, 2026, to Operating While Intoxicated – 3rd Offense, along with additional charges tied to a September 2025 traffic stop in Shelby Township.

The case stems from a September 6, 2025 traffic stop near 23 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue, where Shelby Township Police pulled over a vehicle displaying an unregistered license plate. Officers identified the driver as Bowers and reported smelling alcohol on his breath before conducting field sobriety tests.

Police say Bowers was arrested at the scene for Operating While Intoxicated. During an inventory search of the vehicle, officers located a vial containing suspected narcotics in the center console, which later field-tested positive for cocaine. Investigators also determined the license plate tab on the vehicle had been reported stolen.

Records show the arrest marked Bowers’ seventh OWI-related arrest, highlighting a long history of alcohol-related driving offenses.

Following his guilty plea, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Jennifer M. Faunce sentenced Bowers on March 12, 2026.

According to the court record, Bowers received the following sentences:

  • Operating While Intoxicated – 3rd Offense: 14 months to 5 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections, with 187 days credit for time served
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (Less Than 25 Grams): 14 months to 4 years in MDOC, also with 187 days credit for time served
  • Driving While License Suspended (2nd Offense): $100 fine
  • Operating an Unregistered Vehicle: $100 fine

Court records also show additional financial penalties were assessed, including a $2,000 fine, $136 in state minimum costs, and a $130 felony crime victim fee, along with an alcohol screening fee.

Bowers was previously being held on a $100,000 cash or surety bond with a tether requirement before the case concluded in circuit court.
