SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — A fatal early morning shooting outside an upscale Southfield bar and restaurant left one woman dead and another injured.
Police were called around 2:35 a.m. Saturday to Bloom Southfield, located at 25080 Southfield Road, after reports of gunfire in the parking lot.
Officers arrived to find two adult women suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a hospital. One woman later died from her injuries, while the second is expected to recover.
Investigators said the two women did not know each other. The shooting stemmed from a fight that broke out in the parking lot, not inside the restaurant. A 30-year-old man connected to the incident has been taken into custody for questioning. No charges have been announced as of publication.
Bloom Southfield markets itself as an upscale destination with a clearly defined dress code and entry standards. According to the restaurant’s posted policies, athletic attire, plain white T shirts, and offensive or vulgar clothing are prohibited. Entry is restricted to those 21 and older, with management reserving discretion to enforce the rules.
Despite those standards, violence erupted outside the venue in the early morning hours, underscoring the ongoing challenges nightlife establishments face with crowd control and security once patrons exit the building.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Southfield Police Department at (248) 796-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
