SOUTHFIELD POLICE: TWO MEN ARRESTED IN SEPARATE SEXUAL ASSAULT CASES INVOLVING MINORS

Southfield Police Chief Elvin V. Barren today announced updates on two disturbing, unrelated cases involving sexual acts against minors. Both suspects are in custody after what Barren called “exceptional police work” by his department.

🔹 Case 1 – Family Member Predator: Jason Justice

Police confirm the arrest of Jason Justice, 52, of Southfield, accused of preying on multiple young female family members. Justice was taken into custody by the department’s Tactical Crime Suppression Unit on Sunday, September 14.

* Charges: Criminal Sexual Conduct, 2nd Degree, Accosting a Minor for Immoral Purposes, Use of a Computer to Commit a Crime

* Bond: $100,000 Cash or Surety, GPS tether required upon release

* Next Court Date: September 29, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. before Judge Arvant

Case #25-33409

* Charges: Capturing or Distributing an Image of an Unclothed Person, Use of a Computer to Commit a Crime

* Bond: $150,000 Cash or Surety, GPS tether required upon release

* Next Court Date: September 29, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Nance

Police say the investigation began after a 25-year-old family member alleged she was drugged and assaulted. Explicit photos and videos were later discovered, and additional victims, including minors, have since come forward.

🔹 Case 2 – Park Predator: DeAngelo Steele

In a separate case, DeAngelo Steele, 20, of Southfield, was arrested after police say he accosted a minor at a local park. Following an investigation, Steele was taken into custody on Wednesday, September 17.

Chief’s Message to Parents

Chief Barren called on families to continue having “difficult conversations” with children about safety and boundaries, stressing the importance of creating safe spaces for victims to come forward.

The department publicly thanked the young women who reported these “terrible and unspeakable” crimes, saying their bravery was key to making both arrests.
