MILFORD, MI — Detectives with the Milford Police Department are investigating a homicide after a 26-year-old Milford man was found dead inside a residence late Wednesday afternoon.

Police say officers were dispatched on December 31, 2025, at approximately 4:25 p.m. after the victim’s girlfriend requested a welfare check, reporting she had been unable to contact him for an extended period of time.

Officers responded to a home in the 800 block of East Summit Street, where they made entry and discovered the man deceased. Authorities say the victim suffered injuries consistent with a violent attack.

A 29-year-old man from Sterling Heights connected to the incident was taken into custody later that night and is currently being held at the Oakland County Jail. Police have not released the suspect’s name or announced formal charges at this time.

“This incident remains under investigation, but it does not appear to be random,” said Milford Police Chief Scott Tarasiewicz. “It is believed the victim and the attacker were known to each other.”

Due to the seriousness of the case, specialized resources from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office were requested to assist. Authorities say the agency’s involvement has been essential to the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact Milford Police Department detectives at 248-684-1815.
