Sunkiss Market: Detroit Store Sells $2 Million Winning Powerball Ticket

A group of coworkers from West Bloomfield just scored a $2 million Powerball prize after buying their lucky ticket at Sunkiss Market on Puritan Street in Detroit.

The group, known as the FDL Lottery Club, bought several tickets during the recent billion-dollar jackpot run. When they checked their numbers after the Sept. 3 drawing, they didn’t believe it at first, but scanning the ticket on the Michigan Lottery app confirmed it was real.

The winning ticket matched all five white balls: 03, 16, 29, 61, and 69 to win $1 million. Because they added the Power Play option, that prize doubled to $2 million.

Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli congratulated the club, saying big jackpot runs not only create excitement for players but also help increase funding for Michigan schools through the School Aid Fund.

The club called the win both “comforting and unbelievable.”
