Grosse Pointe Woods, MI – Police say a shooting happened late Thursday night in the parking lot of Henry Ford St. John Hospital, prompting a response from officers and state investigators.
According to the Grosse Pointe Woods Department of Public Safety, officers were dispatched at about 11:53 p.m. on March 5, 2026 to the hospital’s north parking lot at 19229 Moross Road for reports of shots fired.
When officers arrived, they located evidence confirming that a shooting had taken place involving hospital security personnel. Authorities said one individual suffered injuries consistent with gunshot wounds and was receiving medical treatment.
Police also confirmed that a suspect was detained at the scene, and officials say the incident has been contained with no ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation remains active and is being handled by the Grosse Pointe Woods Department of Public Safety with assistance from the Michigan State Police. Additional information is expected to be released once the investigation progresses.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved.
