Huron Township, MI — A 54-year-old Taylor resident is in custody after a violent vehicle pursuit Wednesday afternoon that began with assistance to Taylor police and ended at the Carleton Farms Landfill, leaving three Huron Township officers injured.
According to the Huron Township Police Department, officers were dispatched around 1:51 p.m. on February 25, 2026, to assist the Taylor Police Department with a pursuit involving a vehicle tied to an armed suspect. The chase moved into Huron Township before it was initially terminated.
Authorities say the suspect then drove into the 37000 block of Ash Road in Huron Township and came to a stop. As officers approached, the suspect allegedly fled again — this time attempting to run over a Huron Township police officer while crashing through multiple residential fences in the immediate area.
Officers later returned to Ash Road to document property damage for affected homeowners.
Based on the suspect’s actions, the pursuit was reinitiated.
The chase ultimately ended at the Carleton Farms Landfill, where police say the suspect attempted to ram multiple Huron Township patrol vehicles in an effort to escape. Officers were able to block in the vehicle, and the suspect was taken into custody at approximately 2:05 p.m.
During the incident, three Huron Township police officers sustained minor injuries. They were treated at the scene by the Huron Township Fire Department. No additional injuries were reported.
The suspect was turned over to Taylor police due to the originating incident. Huron Township authorities say they will submit a charging request to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office seeking multiple felony charges related to the pursuit and assaultive behavior.
