Detroit → A missing persons investigation led to the discovery of three dead men inside the basement of a southwest Detroit home Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Detroit Police Department, officers were in the area of the 3100 block of Edsel Street, near Fort Street and Outer Drive, when a man approached them claiming he had just been assaulted inside a nearby residence.
The man also reportedly told officers there were dead people inside the home.
When officers entered the house, they found blood throughout the interior and located three men deceased in the basement. Sources told local media the bodies were wrapped in towels and carpeting.

- The victims are believed to be men in their 50s.
- Police say the men appeared to have been “brutally assaulted.”
- The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
- It is unclear how long the bodies had been inside the home.
- Investigators have not confirmed whether the missing persons report is connected to the victims.
Major Crimes Commander Rebecca McKay said investigators are still working to determine exactly what happened and whether the initial assault report is tied to the homicides.
No arrests have been announced.
