Two juveniles charged with making threats against Centerline High School

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido says two juveniles are facing criminal charges after authorities say threats were made against Centerline High School and its students on Friday, November 21.

Following a review of the case by Centerline Police, both juveniles were each charged with Schools – Intentional Threat to Commit Act of Violence Against School, School Employees, or Students, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year.

A preliminary hearing was held Saturday before Referee Michael Gibbs at the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center. Despite objections from the Prosecutor’s Office, Gibbs released the juveniles on $500 personal bonds. Conditions include house restrictions, no internet use outside school needs, no contact with the alleged victim, and no contact with each other.

Both juveniles reside in Wayne County, and the court ordered the cases transferred there for further proceedings.

“Every school threat shakes the safety of our children and our communities. Juveniles may not fully realize the danger of their words or actions, but the consequences are real,” Lucido said.

All that are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
