Vehicle Shot on I-75 Near Grand River New Years Eve, State Police Investigating

A shooting investigation is underway after a vehicle was struck by gunfire on southbound I-75 near Grand River New Years Eve night.

According to the Michigan State Police, the Detroit Regional Communications Center was notified at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 of a possible shooting on the freeway.

When troopers arrived, they located a vehicle with two bullet holes in the rear driver side door. The driver told police the shooting occurred while traveling southbound on I-75 near the Grand River area.

Investigators believe the suspect vehicle may be a dark-colored Dodge SUV. The freeway was temporarily closed as troopers collected evidence at the scene.

“This investigation is ongoing,” said Mike Shaw. “Currently troopers are gathering evidence, trying to find a motive to the shooting and reviewing video in the area of the shooting.”
