Michigan State Police are investigating an early morning crash that left a vehicle submerged in water along eastbound I-94 near Ecorse, with a man possibly missing.
Troopers were called around 3:40 a.m. after the Detroit Regional Communication Center received reports of a vehicle crash in the area. When troopers arrived, they found a car that had struck a pole and gone into the water.
A 25-year-old woman from Newport was located nearby and is suspected of being intoxicated. She told troopers that her boyfriend was still inside the vehicle.
Troopers searched the area surrounding the crash but were unable to locate anyone. The Downriver Mutual Aid Dive Team has been called to search the water and assist in recovering the vehicle.
The crash investigation is ongoing and updates will be provided following the dive team’s search.
