Warren Man Charged With Multiple Felonies After Allegedly Trying to Sell Stolen Gun on Instagram

Mount Clemens, MI — A 19-year-old Warren man has been charged with multiple felony and misdemeanor offenses after prosecutors say he attempted to sell a stolen handgun through Instagram and was later found with additional weapons and narcotics.

Emari Young

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Emari Young of Warren was arraigned on charges stemming from an alleged January 16, 2026 incident in which Young negotiated the sale of a handgun to a buyer through social media. Authorities say a traffic stop of the vehicle Young was riding in led officers to recover the same firearm he allegedly displayed online.

Following the traffic stop, investigators executed a search warrant at Young’s residence. Prosecutors say officers recovered additional firearms, ammunition, magazines and cocaine during the search.

While in custody at the Warren Police Department Jail, Young is also accused of pulling a telephone off the wall, causing damage to police property.

Young was arraigned Friday before Judge John M. Chmura in the 37th District Court in Warren on the following charges:

• Carrying a Concealed Weapon, a 5-year felony
• Receiving and Concealing a Firearm, a 10-year felony
• Felony Firearm, a mandatory 2-year felony consecutive to the underlying charge, charged twice
• Possession of a Controlled Substance less than 25 grams, a 4-year felony
• Malicious Destruction of Police Property, a 4-year felony
• Using a Computer to Commit a Crime, a 1-year misdemeanor
• Sale of a Firearm Without Compliance, a 90-day misdemeanor

Prosecutors said the charges represent the maximum penalties available under Michigan law based on the evidence presented to date.

Judge Chmura set Young’s bond at $250,000 cash or surety. If released, Young must wear a tether. He is scheduled to appear for a Probable Cause Conference on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 8:45 a.m. before Judge Suzanne Faunce in the 37th District Court.

“This arraignment highlights the serious danger posed by illegal firearms in our community, particularly when stolen weapons are allegedly trafficked on the streets,” Lucido said. “Guns in the wrong hands fuel violence and put innocent people at risk, and these alleged offenses will be treated with the gravity they deserve.”

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
