Warren, MI → A narcotics investigation in Warren led to the discovery of drugs, dozens of animals living in unsafe conditions, and felony charges against a 57-year-old resident following a coordinated enforcement operation this week.

On February 12, 2026, the Sheriff’s Enforcement Team (SET), a joint unit made up of detectives from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office and the Warren Police Department, executed a search warrant at a home in the 14000 block of Hobart Avenue near the 9 Mile and Schoenherr area.
Investigators say the search stemmed from an ongoing probe into alleged drug sales in the Warren area. During the operation, detectives identified the suspect as 57-year-old Michelle Reyntiens of Warren.
According to authorities, detectives seized crack cocaine from the residence. Inside the home, they also discovered a large number of animals living in what officials described as unsanitary and unsafe conditions.
In total, investigators located:
- Crack cocaine
- 20 dogs, including 9 adult dogs and 11 puppies
- 4 turtles
Officials said the animals were being kept in deplorable conditions, and several appeared to need immediate medical attention. Macomb County Animal Control responded to the scene and assisted with safely removing the animals from the home.
Reyntiens was later arraigned in 37A District Court in Warren on multiple felony charges, including:
- Possession of a controlled substance less than 25 grams, a 4-year felony
- Animal cruelty involving 10 or more animals, a 4-year felony
A judge set bond at $30,000 cash or surety only, meaning no 10% option was permitted. Reyntiens remains lodged in the Macomb County Jail as the case moves forward.
