Novi, MI – A confirmed water main break near 14 Mile Road and Drake Road in Farmington Hills early Saturday morning has left much of Novi without water as crews work to isolate the problem and restore service.
According to officials, the issue was first detected when water pressure alarms alerted crews to a significant pressure loss on Great Lakes Water Authority transmission lines shortly before 6 a.m.
At 6:05 a.m., the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) announced it was investigating a possible water main break in the area. By 6:55 a.m., officials confirmed the break at 14 Mile and Drake and said crews were actively working to isolate the damaged section of pipe.
The pressure loss has impacted water service across large portions of Novi, leaving many residents without running water early Saturday morning.
Officials say once water service is restored, all affected areas will be placed under a Boil Water Advisory as a precaution until water quality testing confirms the system is safe.
Authorities have not yet provided an estimate for when full service will be restored.
Officials say updates will be shared as the situation develops.
