Who’s the Baby Daddy? Prosecutors Say Two Men Tried to Trick a Court-Ordered DNA Test

MT. CLEMENS, Mich. — Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced criminal charges against two men accused of attempting to undermine a court-ordered DNA paternity test by having one man take the test acting as the other.

According to prosecutors, 34-year-old Mark McCracken of Clinton Township and 36-year-old Derek Harrison of Roseville allegedly coordinated a scheme in which Harrison posed as McCracken during a required paternity test.

Authorities allege that on Sept. 12, 2025, Harrison signed in at the Macomb County Administration Building using McCracken’s name and submitted a DNA sample while falsely representing himself as McCracken. Prosecutors say the act was intended to interfere with the integrity of the court-ordered testing process.

Harrison was arraigned on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025. McCracken was arraigned on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, before Magistrate Ryan Zemke at the 41B District Court in Clinton Township. Both men are charged with Tampering with Evidence, a four-year felony under Michigan law.

Prosecutors also filed Habitual Offender Fourth Offense Notices against both defendants, an aggravating factor that could increase a potential sentence to up to 15 years in prison if a conviction is secured on the underlying charge.

Both McCracken and Harrison remain in custody at the Macomb County Jail.

“The allegations in this matter are truly outrageous. As many know, Macomb County takes matters of child support extremely seriously, and this case will receive the full attention it warrants.”

Prosecutor Lucido

Both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
