Wixom DoorDash Driver Has History Of Violent Assault – Now Charged With Severely Injuring 75-Year-Old

A DoorDash driver is facing aggravated assault charges after allegedly punching a 75-year-old Wixom man during a confrontation over speeding in a residential neighborhood. The incident happened Sunday, Dec. 28, near Barberry Circle and Windingway Drive, where first responders found Lloyd Poole unconscious in the roadway. Police say Poole suffered a serious head injury after falling and striking the pavement, and he remains hospitalized in serious condition in an intensive care unit.

Investigators say Poole confronted the driver about driving too fast through the neighborhood shortly before the assault. The driver, identified as 40-year-old Ryan Turner, later turned himself in to police and told officers he felt threatened before throwing a punch. Authorities say the blow caused Poole to fall backward and hit his head on the road. Turner is currently charged with aggravated assault and is being held on a $35,000 bond, which allows for release with a 10% payment of $3,500.

New Media Detroit has also verified this is not Turner’s first violent offense. In 2022, Turner pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of disorderly person after originally being charged with assault and battery. That case was disposed on a guilty plea, resulting in a $1,000 fine and a three-month probation sentence, establishing a documented violent incident within the last few years.

More recently, Turner also pleaded guilty in June 2025 to allowing a suspended or revoked person to operate a vehicle, stemming from a May 2025 traffic stop in Novi. That misdemeanor case resulted in fines and costs totaling $630, which court records show remain outstanding.

His criminal history also includes a 2015 Oakland County conviction for a low-level marijuana offense of manufacturing/delivering a controlled substance, for which he was sentenced to 90 days in the Oakland County Jail.
